Hello, I am Kevin, from Canada, and I loved Demon's Souls. It is still to this day one of my favorite games of all time. I could talk about why and how I have grown to love Demon's Souls for hours. I feel exactly the same for Dark Souls, it was shaping up to be the very best game I had ever played.

However, there is a problem, an obstacle in my enjoyment of the game. It is very hard to play this game with friends. Some people have theories about why From Soft chose to do this, but no one really knows. We know that the P2P system severely hurt the online aspect, but I accept it as it is right now. If something could be made or developed by From Software in the future to enable Friend CO-OP, then this would be my favorite game ever, and one of the best experiences I have ever had.

Every little boy dreamed about going on an adventure with friends and explore dungeons together. This game is THAT close to achieving it. There could be multiple solutions to this:

1) Create an item that would simply bring up the Friend List of your PSN/XBOX account and invite someone. In Human mode, using this item could open the Friend List, and in Hollowed/Undead mode, using this item would accept / decline invites.

2) Make Dark Souls scan for Friends in the Friend List and enable sight of the corresponding signs. I have seen this been done before, and this is pretty much the system that Nintendo uses in their online games. It could also work.

3) In fact, we don't really care HOW this system is implemented as long as we are able to go together and banish the evil as a fellowship.

Many of my friends have bought this game in anticipation, as I am sure many others have done. This little obstacle, if removed, would GREATLY help this game's experience, longevity, general appeal, and it would be the true spiritual successor of Dark Souls. Those who DO NOT want Friend CO-OP to happen just have to play alone and accept random phantoms.

SUMMARY: Sign this petition to make From Software and Namco Bandai know that making Friend CO-OP possible would make this the greatest game ever made.

They need to change something in how they run their servers. I want to play with my fiance and friends but cannot because of these P2P servers. This is not fun.

I'm selling this game back if this isn't fixed a.s.a.p. I'm so mad that I "forced" my friend to buy this game just to play with our group and have a 4-some, only to make him waste his money and time. I just don't get why FROM would flip the bird to 95% of their fan base and then laugh at us when we complain.. It's like they enjoy knowing that their loyal DS fans are mad and boycotting them. THIS MAKES NO SENSE!!!!!

Come on From Software, I know your making the game hard and trying to prove a point with having random people summoned, but really, sapping fun out of the game (as if rejecting chat/mics and not being able to specifically invite people wasn't enough) by having these crappy P2P servers and not being able to buddy up is just disappointing. Demon Souls was tricky enough to summon but this new system in Dark Souls is just plain impossible. I want to HELP people who need help, and if I need help I know I have some buddies who got my back and not some stranger who may or may not know what the heck they're doing. So please, PLEASE go back to the method of Demon Souls. It really is only half the experience now, among other problems that people, fans, hardcore fans of the original Demon Souls that we loved and cherished, are complaining about, this online/co-op/summoning issue has to be the biggest problem/let down in ark Souls. Please don't let this flaw scar Dark Souls, use a miracle and bring back the old system!

I liked how it was in Demon's Souls. Plenty of randoms, and you could just tell your friends where to put their signs if you wanted to coop with them.

Right now this game is just a paperweight because the online system is so ridiculous. Demon's Souls was ingenius and was everything I wanted. I was super thrilled for this game until I realised how downgraded the online system was. I bought this to play with my friends and all I get is random signs that may or may not show up.

I'm actually a friend of Kuujis, and in fact we probably wouldn't be the friends we are today without 3-3's boss fight, since I put my sign down, he summoned me, and we ended up adding each other to MSN for voice chat, so I could explain the fight to him.

If they did make it so you can't see your friends via this system of many servers you're randomly assigned to when you log in as I've heard people say, I can understand why they did it to a degree, for the same reason the 360 version has party chat disabled: to preserve the atmosphere.

Perhaps what From/Namco (don't know who actually instituted the system, but I assume it was from) doesn't realize is that people can choose to preserve the atmosphere, or not, as well as the fact that playing alone, the same game, over and over, for most people will get more boring on each subsequent playthrough where not much changes. However, with friends, you could keep doing more NG+'s until the goddamn end of time.

Here's hoping this does actually get changed. Even just to the system Demon's Souls had, where you could see anyone's signs.

Just as said above, Demon's Souls was my only reason for purchasing a PS3 and still is today one of my favorite games of all time. Dark Souls' little servers idea and this petition is the only reason I registered for this site. I have spent at least 4 hours total solely trying to be summoned or summon my brother on Dark Souls, and I have twice. Tonight it simply won't let me. As a matter of fact, tonight as I've restarted my game 4 times, I can't see anyone's soul signs to summon for help with the 2 gargoyles above the church. Sure I could easily summon Solaire and take them on, but I want the COOP experience with strangers, friends, and my brother. My mom's boyfriend only bought the game because he thought it was another game he could love like Zelda and be able to play with me, and now we found out he can't. This game has become a huge let down because there is no way to attempt to summon people who want we want to play with like on Demon's Souls. I'm tired of summoning a guy because he sucks and needs me to guide him through the level with my game, when I summoned him to MY game because I needed assistance. I don't want tag-along crappy stranger who I have no sentimental feelings for to wait on, and I don't want in the future a random stranger who cheats somehow and makes the boss fights super easy and kills minions without letting me play.

Honestly FROM, the point of a game is to satisfy the wants of your customers NOT the wants of you. Without us buying your game you would literally have nothing. We want to be able to play with our friends if we so choose. Who are you to dictate whether we can or cant? Demon's soul atleast let you do that if you could manage to reload your profile and be lucky enough to be into the same server. In dark souls you cant even do that! my friend literally lives down the street and yet he is on a different server. i just dont see how they dictate where people get put into servers. this is sad really, i bought this game looking to play a great sequel to Demon's souls and yet here i am, sadly disappointed that a game developer wont let friends play with friends because they dont want the atmosphere to be ruined. WHAT A JOKE. sign this petition people!

This is definitely a huge disappointment. I've spent 500 plus hours playing demon's souls online, gotten platinum and have yet to get tired of the game, but the online play in this game --or at least the lack of proper co-op-- makes me sure that I'm just gonna put this game aside after beating it once and go back to just playing demon's souls if this isn't fixed.I honestly don't care if it's on dedicated servers, I just would like the option to play with people I actually know. Bought the game the same day as a few friends and we started at the same time only to find out there is no proper way to play together, and that some people trying to do it waste hours and hours trying. This could be fixed with a simple invitation system.

At times like this I wish I could summon a buddy to help not cause it would make things easier but for the fact that due to this random P2P server I RARELY see any soul signs being laid down and after experiencing the new difficulty Dark Souls has to offer I KNOW that there are a lot of people dropping down they're signs with the hopes someone can summon them so they too can progress and beat a stage with some help. Please fix this issue, many people I know who supported Demon Souls...no...actually a majority of the fan base that helped make Demon Souls the hit that it was is finding this problem a gamebreaking feature in Dark Souls. Please fix the online

I registered just to be able to sign this petition.
I really think it is a huge shame what they've done with multiplayer i Dark Souls.
Multiplayer and the way it was implimented in Demon's Souls was one of the
major factors in what made that game so special. I can find no logic sense in
their decision to change it. To make the game harder? That is A LOT to sacrifice
to make the game just a tad harder, if it has an effect on difficulty at all.
They have truely turned sheer fun and excitement (Demon's Souls multiplayer)
into sheer frustration/stupidity (Dark Souls multiplayer).

This is sad. not only did they purposefully not put in mics(which i can deal with) but now they changed the server set up around so that you cant play with friends? i mean really now, if your loyal customers WANT to be able to play wiith their friends if they so choose they should be able to. Not being able to play with friends because "it would ruin the atmosphere" shouldn't be FROM's decision to make. it should be our since we are the ones forking out the money to get them game. all im saying is if they dont do anything to change it even after this petition, consider it a slap in the face to all of us who signed this.

It is rather sad that a game that had so much potential has horrible online. Namco could at least pretend they care.
